General information

What is HDF?

High Density Fibreboard (HDF) provides better plank stability and allows the profiles to be manufactured precisely for a perfect fit. HDF is a technical product whose density is twice as high as that of softwood. It is therefore resistant to wear and tear and is compatible with underfloor heating.

General information

Are your parquet floors truly French?

Our production plant is located in Meaulne, at the edge of the Tronçais forest in Auvergne. They also proudly wear the « Parquets de France » label which testifies to quality, originality and a unique style.

General information

Are your parquet floors ecological/environmentally friendly?

The products are all labeled A+, which is the lowest emission rate of organic substances in France. We use finishing products without organic solvents (oils and varnishes). The PEFC*- and FSC labels guarantee a rational use of forest resources. Furthermore, our wood is a 100% renewable material from well-managed forests.

General information

Can the color of my parquet floor change?

Wood, being a living material, tends to "darken" or "lighten" when exposed to light and ultraviolet radiation. Depending on the origin and cut of the wood, the parquet planks may reveal more or less significant variations in tone, even compared to the reference sample.

Maintenance

How to maintain an oiled parquet floor?

Our parquet floors are factory finished, however, you could apply a thin layer of BerryAlloc® maintenance oil to the floor after installation to protect the joints between the planks. Apply routine (monthly) cleaning with Natural Soap for oiled Parquet. Regular (annual) maintenance requires BerryAlloc® maintenance oil which can also be used immediately after installation. Apply BerryAlloc® maintenance oil to the dust-free and clean parquet by wiping until obtaining a matt shine. The cleaning frequency should be adapted to the room’s foot flow. We invite you to consult our maintenance instructions for oiled parquet where you will find all the information concerning routine cleaning, the regular and specific maintenance of your parquet as well as the cleaning of specific tasks.

Maintenance

How to maintain varnished parquet?

There should be no need for additional application of finishing product after the installation of our floors. Depending on foot flow and condition of the floor, you could use a degreaser to clean
thoroughly and then the BerryAlloc® protector to restore a beautiful appearance . Never wash the parquet floor with large amounts of water or leave standing water on the floor. We invite you to consult our maintenance instructions for varnished parquet where you will find all the information concerning routine cleaning, the regular and specific maintenance of your parquet as well as the cleaning of specific tasks.

Maintenance

What cleaning products would you recommend for parquet?

For daily maintenance of varnished floors, we recommend using a microfiber broom or vacuum cleaner. For maintenance, we recommend the use of BerryAlloc® Cleaner, perfectly adapted to our parquet floors. For oiled floors, you will find the BerryAlloc® Natural Soap for daily maintenance and the BerryAlloc® Maintenance Oil to give back protection to your floor. BerryAlloc® Maintenance Oil should also be used immediately after installation. We invite you to consult the detailed maintenance instructions corresponding to the parquet floor that concerns you.

Installation

What kind of installation would you recommend for parquet?

The installation of your parquet floor depends on its purpose. If you want a fast installation with the possibility of adaptations, on a limited surface (Width 8m x Length 10m) then floating mode is your best option. If, on the other hand, you want to free yourself from threshold bars or splitting joints, opt for a gluedown installation to eliminate possible squeaks and make your parquet compatible with underfloor heating.

Installation

Which underlay should I use when installing a parquet floor?

We recommend the Excellence+ underlay, which allows a sound reduction of 19dB on a 14mm parquet floor and ensures excellent resistance of our floating parquets (in accordance with NF B53-676 standards concerning underlays for floating parquet). Caution: our parquet floors do not come with an underlay to make up for unevenness in the floor.

Installation

Can I install my parquet floor myself?

Yes, thanks to our Best Loc® & Best Loc® XTreme systems, you can easily click the planks together, without tools or glue. We've also compiled installation instructions and recorded tutorial videos that explain precisely how to install our floating or glued parquet floors. However, proper installation is subject to DTU 51.11 for floating and DTU 51.2 for glued installations.

Installation

Can I put a BerryAlloc® parquet floor over an existing floor? (flooring, etc.)

It is possible to install our BerryAlloc® parquet floors on a hard floor as long as the latter respects both the flatness and humidity level. When installing a new parquet floor on top of an old one, we recommend installing the planks perpendicular to the old ones (cross laying). However, avoid installing a new parquet floor on a "flexible" surface (such as short carpet, vinyl, etc.).

Installation

Can I install a parquet floor in my kitchen or bathroom?

Since water is the ultimate enemy of wood, our warranty does not cover parquet floors installed in rooms with water.

Installation

Can I install parquet on the stairs?

Yes, it is possible to install parquet on the stairs. The accessories range to this installation is under development.

Installation

What is the maximum area that I can cover with parquet without using expansion joints in a room?

There is no limit if you use gluedown installation, eliminating the need for reducer profiles. Conversely, a floating installation should not exceed 8m wide by 10m long and each room should be separated by reducer profiles at the doors. Beyond 8m, a dividing joint must be provided.

Underfloor heating

Is parquet compatible with the underfloor heating system?

Yes, all BerryAlloc parquet ranges are compatible with underfloor heating systems. We recommend laying the floor flush with BerryAlloc® glue for optimum underfloor heating efficiency. Rigorous adherence to the protocol for starting the heating system beforehand is essential to guarantee a safe installation. We invite you to consult the installation instructions for underfloor heating for more details.

To repair

How do I hide the scratches and little splinters on my parquet?

In case of scratches on the surface of a plank or decay of the knot sealer, use the BerryAlloc® repair kit that will allow you to mask or plug it.

To repair

Is it possible to repair a damaged plank in the middle of the room without having to remove the entire parquet floor?

Yes, it is possible to replace a plank in the middle of a room in floating or gluedown installation without having to dismantle everything with our BestLoc® X-Treme system.
